Thanks to guest blogger Naomi Shaw for sharing these helpful tips on how to start and implement a wedding beauty regimen!

If you are planning a wedding, you know it takes time to find the perfect invitations, place settings, seating charts, centerpieces, and more. While it might sound impossible to add one more item to your list, it’s important to note, now is the perfect time to start a wedding beauty regimen so you will look and feel your best on your wedding day. Afterall, your wedding is a once in a lifetime event and getting your body ready doesn’t happen overnight.

To help you look fabulous on your wedding day, scroll through the following tips on how to plan and start a wedding beauty regimen:

Plan ahead.

The secret to success for any bride is to start early and schedule time for your beauty regimen. Following your engagement, start planning your fitness routine. Begin by setting realistic goals and go from there. If you want toned arms, a flat stomach, or a sleeker physique you will need to include specific exercises to make that a reality. Join a gym, hire a trainer, find a workout buddy, buy those workout videos, or create a fitness plan so you can stay on track and achieve your beauty goals for the wedding.

Be realistic.

After deciding your goals, keep in mind that it takes time, patience, and a lot of sweat and tears. Don’t get frustrated. Keep working toward your end results. It takes time to tone and lose weight.

Don’t just cut calories, start strength-building.

If you want to look toned, you will need to commit to a strength-building program and stick with it over time. This will keep underarm wings, muffin tops, and the dreaded boob armpit bulge in check. Also, remember the scale might not change if you are adding muscle. You will see results in your measurements, energy, and physique. Begin a low intensity weight lifting program or incorporate an aerobic strength training program into your routine.

Start eating healthier now, not later.

If you want to slim down, now is the time to start watching your diet. This will avoid starving yourself and allow a little wiggle room for “cheat” dates now and then. To safely lose weight, you will want to have several months to work towards your goal weight. Cut back on portion size, avoid junk food, and start making healthier food choices. For the best results, consult your trainer or seek advice about pairing diet with exercise.

Don’t forget your skin!

The months leading up to the wedding can be stressful which can lead to breakouts and other skin problems. Make it a priority to show a little TLC to your skin so you will have a blemish-free and glowing complexion that any bride would envy. If you struggle with your skin, visit a dermatologist about a year in advance to ensure you have enough time to clear up any issues. Also, find a daily cleanser and moisturizer combo now to use everyday to cleanse the skin and make it a priority to drink plenty of water, wear sunscreen, and eat foods, such as salmon, tuna, and almonds, to nourish your skin so you will be looking your best when you say your vows.

A few months before the wedding, practice a little self-care.

Now that the canvas, your body, is toned and blemish free, you can start focusing on your hair, teeth, eyebrows, and nails. It’s also a great time to seek out a massage or spa day so you can relieve stress to prevent overeating or breakouts. Consider having your teeth whitened or start the process at home, try out a spray tan, or get your hair color locked in place if you dye your strands. This will prevent any awkward surprises, allergic reactions, or color mishaps while giving you time to adjust or fix any mistakes.

During the weeks leading up to the wedding, get enough beauty sleep.

As the wedding day fast approaches, focus on relaxing and treating yourself well. Eat well and get enough sleep to prevent looking tired and stressed. Sleep can ward of sickness, keep anxiety at bay, and keep you looking beautiful for the walk down the aisle.

Schedule final beauty touches for the last few days before your wedding.

A lot of your beauty regimen will need to take place close to our wedding day. However, schedule spray tans and waxings several days in advance of the wedding so you are not left sporting awkward streaks or painful irritation. Also, schedule your mani and pedi a day or two before to prevent chipping.
